Mrs Youngdale-Trobisch Ingrid |
![]() of Swedish descent, born at the foot of Kilimanjaro where her father was a missionary; Walter was a founder member of the former FIDAF/IFFLP and a member of its first Board. It was in the Cameroons where both were teachers, that Walter and Ingrid became aware from the 1950s of the importance and urgency to help young Africans. Faced with the cultural upheaval brought about by colonisation, what did it mean start a family, how to behave in a boy/girl relationship? From this a first best seller was born (translated into many languages): "I loved a girl", followed by many other publications: then a mission that spread internationally (Family Life Mission) and numerous seminars which entailed travelling worldwide, with great awareness of the nature of cultural differences. Unfortunately Walter died prematurely; here is one of his last writings, written as a preface to the book that Ingrid wrote, in collaboration with Elizabeth Roetzer: "An experience of Love: Understanding N.F.P." (Ed Fleming Revell Co. Old Tapp..., New Jersey 1981) “The way of life proposed in natural family planning is a noble one. Here we stand on holy ground. To allow new life to begin is intimate cooperation with God, a sacred trust coupled with personal responsibility. Here there is no room for superficiality. It is a matter of earnest and exacting precision, for we are dealing with the affirmation of one’s body. Beyond this step of self-acceptance lies a renewed reverence for one’s own creatureliness, as well as a new love and awareness for the Creator. It wells up from a deep, unshakeable affirmation of life.” Walter TROBISH (written before his death, Oct. 13, 1979). Ingrid sends us this message in the form of an editorial. Would we have here the "secret" of this universal value which we hold dear and which we are searching to convey? An experience of Love: Understanding N.F.P.” (Ed. Fleming Revell Co., Old Tapp..., New Jersey, 1981) : “The way of life proposed in natural family planning is a noble one. It wells up from a deep, unshakeable affirmation of life.” The way of life proposed in natural family planning is a noble one. It wells up from a deep, unshakeable affirmation of life.” |
