FAMILY LIFE PROMOTION IN THE HIV/AIDS CRISIS- L'ACTION FAMILIALE FACE AU SIDA- Cotonou Bénin
 
 
This meeting was held at ICAF (the Catholic Institute for French-speaking Africa for Marriage and family Studies). There were 100 participants from 23 pays. They worked on two themes : 1) how to promote family life in a world ravaged by AIDS and 2) the establisment of a Federation among the Associations who were members of the Link Committee. Objectives of the meeting 30 October : Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow Objectives : To understand more profoundly, the anthropological foundations of our action : to define the geographical limits of our present activities ; to suggest concrete activities for our associations, to study the various forms an inter-African structure might take. 31 October : Harmony in marriage/Conflict in marriage Objectives :To understand the anthropological basis of Family Life, to recall of the psychological aspects of Family Life, discover Empathetic Listening which can be a useful tool for managing conflict and solving couples' problems, to produce guidelines for promoting of couple harmony and for helping to resolve conflict in marriage - November lst: The Future of the Federation Objectives : To identify the criteria for successful coordination between Family Life Associations in different countries in Africa; To summarise and synthesise each day's ideas about pan-African structures and coordination; To decide on the role of the future structure; how it will be financed; how its work will be evaluated and how it will be established. November 2 : Education of Youth in Human Love Objectives : To understand the anthropological basis of human love, how to present it, the activities and skills needed for dealing with youth, relations with the secular authorities and the Churches. Cette rencontre s'est tenue à l'Institut Catholique de l'Afrique Francophone pour l'étude du mariage et de la famille (ICAF). Elle a rassemblé 100 participants de 23 pays. Ses travaux ont porté parallèlement sur l'adaptation des actions de promotion familiale dans un monde marqué par le SIDA et sur la constitution d'une fédération africaine des associations membres du Comité Mondial de Liaison des associations d'Action Familiale. Objectifs de la rencontre 30 Octobre : Hier-Aujourd'hui-Demain Objectifs : Mieux comprendre les fondements anthropologiques de notre action, faire un état des lieux de nos actions actuelles, prévoir des actions concrètes au sein de nos associations, identifier les options possibles de structuration au niveau international africain. 31 Octobre : Entente Conjugale / Conflit Conjugal Mieux comprendre les fondements anthropologiques de la vie familiale; se rappeler les aspects psychologiques de la vie familiale; découvrir l'écoute empathique, qui est un des outils possibles d'aide dans les entretiens avec les couples en difficulté; évoquer la structuration des activités de promotion de l'entente conjugale et d'aide à la résolution des conflits conjugaux. 1er Novembre : L'avenir de la fédération Objectif : Identifier les critères de réussite de la vie associative des associations d'Action Familiale au sein des pays; faire la synthèse de la réflexion menée chaque jour sur la structuration de la coordination interafricaine; décider du rOle, du financement et de l'évaluation des actions de la future structure; planifier la mise en place de la structure. 2 Novembre : Education des jeunes à l'Amour Humain Objectifs : Mieux comprendre les fondements anthropologiques de l'amour humain; quel langage avoir, quelles actions mener avec et auprès des jeunes, auprès des pouvoirs publics et auprès des églises.
