"Subfertility and Sterility: A Couple's Crisis."
|
Definition and types of infertility and the conditions necessary for fertility are discussed. In simple, easy to understand language, the use of the symptothermal method and its relationship in understanding the fertility potential of the cycle is explained. The authors discuss factors which the couple can consider which favor fertilization and some pointers for NFP teaching couples to consider when counseling couples wishing to achieve pregnancy. The article describes some of the more common psychological concerns of couples attempting to achieve pregnancy and offer suggestions for the NFP teacher couple in supporting the couple in their attempt to achieve pregnancy. This article may be useful for NFP teachers and/or trainers to provide some insights into the complex counseling process in infertility or counseling of sub-fertile couples. NOTE: There is not a strong support for the involvement of physicians stated in this article. However, it is recommended that NFP service programs refer couples with sub-fertility or infertility problems to physicians who specialize in this area. |
